If your just getting rid of a variation in volume caused by a moveing singer, just use the vocal rider. Waves MaxxVolume is one of the best Waves plugins for vocals or drums. When you write it, you have to put yourself in the position of the people who will welcome you. This plugin is great for making things tighter, louder and for leveling dynamically uneven material. No need to do a dissertation, be short and concise. I guess what I'm saying is if you want something to have the compressed sound use a compressor and if you need to have the vocal rider befor it. What does a technical rider contain A technical rider must be succinct. In short it controlls the volume like you would at a mixer when a band performs liveĬompressing a sound changes the way it sounds, adjusting volumes dosn't change anything but volume. If they go to shout I pull it down, dropping the volume so everyone isn't blowen out the room or in your case the sound clipps/distorts whatever happens on your stuff when the signal is too loud. By that I meen when the person's voice gets quiet because their moveing away from the mic, I push the volume slider up.
I'm a Special events DJ and I find the vocal rider dose what I do when someone unexperinced with a mic is doing a speach. The Vocal Rider seem to be a auto volume control, that's not the a compressor. To avoid any confusion, VocRider won’t automagically level the volume of your vocal tracks in Waves Vocal Rider fashion (in other words, it won’t level out your vocalist’s performance). What it will do however is to automatically control the level of your vocals so that they stay on top of other elements of the mix (which are sent to VocRider through the side-chain input). Unfortunately, the side-chaining feature of the Vocal Rider isnt supported by Abletons side-chaining function, so it wont work properly. It automatically adjusts the vocal volume fader in relation to the music, and apparently works very nicely. This is just my opinion so just say if you find I'm wrong. As the title suggests, Im looking for an alternative to the Waves Vocal Rider plugin.
